Six adults with variety of special needs live
together at Camp Horizons' Community Residence. They have developed
rich and meaningful relationships with each other, their neighbors,
and members of the Willimanitc community. One of the unique features
of this home is the use of "total communication", a combination
of sign language, gestures and speech, implemented to benefit several
residents who are deaf. Each resident has a uniquely different person-centered
daily routine, which includes work and pursuit of personal hobbies
and interests. |
