To Whom It May Concern: I would like to speak on the behalf of Camp Horizons and the service they provide to The University of Connecticut Department of Dining Services. I have had the pleasure of working with Camp Horizons for about 5 years now. I have come to realize the benefits of this organization on many levels. The development I have witnessed with the kids working through Camp Horizons in my dining hall has been amazing. When many of the kids have first begun working here, they were timid, or had disabilities that may have gotten in their way of performing the job to task. I have watched them adjust and come out of their shells. They have become an integral part of the operation of our facility. It is very encouraging to see the personal development many of these kids have gone through. They have contributed much to the work force of our department and specifically Putnam Dining Hall. They have supplemented my staffing needs and take care of very specific areas of production, service, and daily maintenance. I am always confident in a job well done being performed in any of the areas they may be. The job coaches and support staff play an integral role in guiding them in the areas they are in charge of. Overall, Camp Horizons has become a valuable part of our department as well as some others on campus. The department has benefited in many ways since our involvement with Camp Horizons. We look forward to collaborating for many years to come. Sincerely, David V. Barbera |
