     General Information

Camp Horizons is a private, non-profit, residential camp located in South Windham, CT. Our philosophy is to assist camper in reaching his/her fullest potential in a supportive, positive recreational environment.

     Camper Population

Children and adults who are mentally handicapped. Campers may also have a secondary handicap such as deafness/hearing impairment blindness/visual impairment or mild cerebral palsy.

     Support

Camper/Staff ratio (5:1) offers opportunity for individualization in many areas. All staff live in cabins with campers and assist them with their activities of daily livings (changing, showering, etc.)
Counselors receive daily support from experienced staff, as do program instructors. Daily and weekly meetings provide staff and campers with continuity in a team environment. Orientation occurs before campers arrive and is six days long.

    - New, heated, in-ground pool, lake, horses, fitness center
    - Rustic, single and double cabins with 5-6 campers
    - Eat family style in the dinning hall
