Last week, at a regular meeting of the Board of Directors of Horizons, Inc., a significant challenge grant was revealed. It is the single, largest donation ever offered in the thirty-three year history of the non-profit agency, Horizons!
This transformative gift honors Horizons’ passion and commitment to people with developmental disabilities and the donor family’s long-standing support for Horizons’ person-centered mission.
The news of this major grant is clearly a turning point for Horizons as it is currently poised to enter a new era. Horizons is in the midst of a capital campaign focused on creating new and innovative options for people with developmental disabilities via “The Horizons Commons Project.”
The challenge grant is in effect for 18 months and enables gifts given between April 2012 and October 2013 to double their value! Gifts given in this timeframe will bring Horizons closer and closer to its $2.3 million dollar goal.
Chris McNaboe, Executive Director, hopes that the historic size of this gift and the incredible value of the challenge grant will inspire others to contribute.
Details to follow at a press event in May. |
